Despite that there's no direct flight from Nashville to Edmonton, but my calculations estimate that a direct flight would take 4-4:15 hours.

With Air Canada, there is no direct flight from Nashville to Edmonton and you'll need to make a connection in Toronto, which is 1 hour ahead of Nashville (e.g. - when in Nashville is 10:30 am, in Toronto s 11:30 am). Toronto is 2 hours ahead of Edmonton. The total effective flight duration is about 7 hours and 50 minutes (3 hours and 50 minutes from Nashville to Toronto and 4 hours from Toronto to Edmonton).

Can someone tell me why this Southwest flight from Nashville to Phoenix is going to take so long
Can someone tell me why this Southwest flight from Nashville to Phoenix is going to take so long?
i'm originally flying from detroit, and i have a layover in nashville. from detroit to nashville it's only a half hour, but i dont understand why from nashville to phoenix it's 4 hours and 45 minutes? from detroit to phoenix it's only about 4 hours...and detroit seems way farther than nashville from phoenix. can someone please help me understand why it's going to take almost an hour longer when it seems like it's just a straight shot going west? i'm not trying to sound stupid :/ i'm just curious lol. it's just that on a map, detroit seems farther than nashville.

Times are listed in local time and there is a 3 hr time difference from detroit to phoenix. That is the only explanation I've got.

Actually your flight from Detroit to Nashville should be 90 minutes because Nashville is 1 hour behind Detroit. As for the flight taking longer from Nashville, maybe the airline budgeted more time because Nashville can get busy. Airlines will pad the schedule sometimes if they are flying into and out of a congested airport. But I agree that it appears Nashville is closer to Phoenix than Detroit. I would expect a flight from Detroit to Phoenix to be at least 5 hours.

Well there are the different time zones but you might also be stopping somewhere along the way to pick up/drop off passengers but not getting off. then the same plane continues to your destination. if that is the case they usually don't tell you because it's not really a layover.

Why are flights from San Diego/LAX to Nashville so expensive
Why are flights from San Diego/LAX to Nashville so expensive?
I was looking at flights from SD/LA to Nashville and I'm getting results of over $600 round trip! Southwest has flights of $400 one way!! I can fly to Europe for less than I can fly domestically within the US. Is there simply little demand for SD/LA to Nashville flights?

Obviously yes.

There can be multiple reasons why it is so expensive. Are you flying out during the summer months? Summer travel usually has higher ticket prices because lots of people tend to travel since school is out. Also if you do not buy your ticket at least 14 days before you travel, sometimes the price goes up a lot. See if http://www.priceline.com has anything.
