What is the best and worst Airlines to fly? (US ONLY)?
The best airline to fly with is Southwest The worst airline is United (got I hate them so much, after a 15 hour flight from Japan to Chicago all I wanted to do was get to Nashville. After delaying the flight 3 times they finally desided to cancel it at 11:00 at night. That was not bad, yes the weather in other places where bad and all flights where getting cancled. But what gets me is...they told me there was NO AIRLINE going to tennassee from that airport for THREE days and that they would not pay for me to stay at a hotel, and also that there were no rooms avalible at any hotels close to the Airport. They told me I can sleep at the airport...hahah for 3 days I think NOT!!!. My sisters friend came and got me and drove me to Midway Airport the next morning to catch a southwest flight to Nashville. (oh and they would not give me my bags, they said they would be in nashville for me in the morning. They never got there until 11:00 that night, and I had to go pick them up.) The reason I say US only is because I know all over seas flights ROCK! People over seas are so much nicer so how can it be bad... ALOPILOT: I'm asking what PEOPLE think..not what stupid records show.

Too bad you've limited it to U.S. airlines. Now I can't mention how much British Airways rocks! I fly a lot, and frankly, I find most most domestic airlines, these days to be pretty similar. I tend to have good experiences with Delta. As another poster mentioned, Southwest is usually pretty good, as long as you arrive early enough to get a low check-in number. Yes, United sucks. They used to be alright. It seems that they're just going through the motions, these days.

Sorry about this but there is nothing that bother me more than someone who makes a claim with nothing to back it up... take for instance the guy above that says that Delta is the best and that Northwest is the worst because they are always late and the DC-9's are crowded... First of all, take a look at the stats for youself... its the top link below... Over the entire scope of the data (Jun, 2003 - Jan, 2007) , both airlines performed above average in on-time stats... However, Delta performed on time 77.15% of the time.... Northwest performed on time 77.59% of the time.... I believe the Northwest number is higher and thus THERE ARE MORE DELAYS ON DELTA!!!... Next, he talks about cramming them into DC-9's... for comparision purposes, we will look at the similarly sized DC-9-50 in the NW corner and the MD-90 from Delta... Both of the airplanes feature 17" seat width so its a tie there... seat pitch or distance between seats is 30-31" on the DC-9-50... thats 30" in most seats and 31" in the exit rows,,, Delta's MD-90 has 30-32" seat pitch... the 32" pitch can be found in one (1) seat on the entire airplane and that is seat 10C... it is situated right behind first class and the bulkhead does not extend all the way in front of the seat... otherwise... its 30" inches and 31" in the exit rows... I've looked on Southwest.com and oribtz, travelocity, and many other well known sites. I'm wanting to go out there for the UFC event but two tickets the cheaest I can find is $650

Super Bowl weekend is one of the busiest times of year for Vegas. Cheap flights will be hard to find, and cheap rooms will also be an issue. For SB weekends you need to book way in advance to get any kind of deal.

You can't even get near a sports book anywhere in town that time. They even bet on the coin toss. So far as airfare, it has nothing to do with that weekend ... prices are high if traveling on a Friday or Monday no matter what weekend it is. Try looking at coming out on Weds. and flying home Sunday on a red eye. You might try Frontier airlines or Allegiant air. I will tell you that the longer you wait to buy your airline tickets the price will just go up. For a good site to compare prices for you look at www.sidestep.com Do not wait until the last minute ... you may end up paying double the price or worse yet ... not get a flight out. Then what do you do?

I found one through kayak.com for $342, but it has a really long layover time. Everything else is going to be ultra-expensive since you are looking during a holiday time period with less than 14 day advance reservation.

You are looking at purchasing on really short notice during one of the busiest travel weeks of the year. If you see something reasonable, do not hesitate or it might disappear quickly. I would look for you, but by the time you see my answer, it will be gone.

connecting flight in Newark, will I have enough time
connecting flight in Newark, will I have enough time?
I have to connect in Newark EWR (from Birmingham BHX, United Kingdom) to Nashville BNA, midday on a Saturday (mid August). I have 2 hours 40 mins but need to go from terminal B to terminal A and as I understand will need to go through customs and luggage handling/bag re-check-in at Newark due to going from an international flight to a domestic flight. Both flights are with continental however I am required to check in with expressjet airlines inc dba co expre for my flight to Nashville. Has anyone done this trip? Will I have enough time to connect? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Those connections are scheduled so that under normal conditions, there is plenty of time to make the connection. You should have plenty of time to connect after you clear customs. I don't know how Continental works in Newark, but I fly Delta's connection partners all the time, and I have that stuff on my ticket too. However, in reality, you can just take your bags to the Continental/Continental Express check-in counter and re-check them there. It might even be that there is a place right there at customs where you can re-check your bags for a connecting flight. It does not take very long to get from Terminal B to Terminal A at EWR. Newark's a pretty fast airport to get through, actually (or at least it was the last time I flew American to Newark).

Assuming that there are not a lot of other international flights coming in as well, you should have enough time. You do have to clear customs and then pick-up your bags before heading out of terminal B. There is a monorail that should get you to terminal A. After you get to terminal A, you do need to check your luggage in with expressjet.

What may snag you up is going through customs. yea, i booked a flight to nashville for a week thinking i that i would spend it with my now exgf, but... that's not happening anymore so, i was wondering what a single guy can do to have fun in nashville. never been there before. (I'm 21)

Yoy will have an AMAZING time in Nashville! I went there on vacation a few years ago and loved it! Make sure you go see a performance at the Grand Old Opry, you can go on a brunch or dinner cruise on the Memphis Queen (Riverboat), you can walk into almost any restaurant and hear live music just about any time of day (FANTASTIC! Throw a few dollars in their tip jar. Great talent!), there is the Charlie Daniels Museum, take a tour of the Jack Daniels Distillery.....how is that for a start? Believe me, as a single guy, you will have a BLAST! ENJOY!!!

What is the cheapest/best airline to travel?
short flight from Nashville to Cleveland in June planned. I have never flown before. Would it be better to get a Hotel/Flight deal together? Any other tips would also be appreciated.

I love Southwest Airlines because they are almost always cheaper, the airline attendants know how to have fun, and they serve awesome honey roasted peanuts....plus if you sign up for their frequent flier miles you get tons of free drink coupons. I am thinking about studying in the UK. I was curious about what colleges are good for aerospace engineering. Which provide the best tuition/scholarships for US students? What would it cost app in $ for everything (flight from Nashville and back, tuition, room and board)? I am mostly interested in which ones offer the best scholarships. I would like the total cost to be under $15,000 with scholarships. Idk if this is optimistic but it really needs to be under or close to that.

how to get to nashville tn from philadelphia?
I want to go to nashville for fairly cheap. I've discovered there are no passenger trains that run through nashville and a flight is too expensive. anyone know anything about travel to nashville (other than taking a car...this is my last option) any ideas would be great :)

You might try contacting a travel agent about a consolidator who buys tickets in bulk. Anything you would get online will run almost $2,000 because you have basically no advanced purchase and you are only staying 3 days. As much as I love London, there is absolutely no way I would fly that far to stay two nights. That is not a "getaway", that is "cruel and unusual punishment". Why not check in to a nice suite at the Hermitage, Union Station, or Sheraton, enjoy some room service, and chill out.

i have to go to a wedding in Toronto and my mom says you can fly cheap out of nashville and the both of us have to go... the mother of the bride (who is a great friend of ours) says she could just come get us at the border and pick us up, but we want to know if there is a cheap airline we could fly or if our best bet is to meet my friend at the border and drive in...

Your best bet is probably to fly into Buffalo if price is the main concern. Every time I've looked at flights, even through discount sites, it's considerably cheaper to fly within the US and pay to transport yourself to Toronto. Keep in mind though you'll need to give yourself plenty of time at the border. You could go through easily, or if you're pulled over you could be there for a few minutes or a few hours.

Can you purposely miss a connection to make your flight cheaper?
I want to fly from Albuquerque to Atlanta (just one way). There is only one direct flight and it's $600. I can book a one-way ticket to Nashville though and I would be on the same Delta flight because it first connects in Atlanta before going onto Nashville. That ticket is only $128. If I carry on then just get off in Atlanta, can they go back and charge me the difference for missing my "connecting" flight from Atlanta to Nashville?

This is called throwaway ticketing. It is not allowed by the airlines, but can be done without repercussions if you do not make a habit of it. That is to say, you should be able to get away with it this one time. It helps that you're doing a one way ticket. If you skip a leg in the middle of a round trip itinerary, the rest of your reservation is also canceled. And no, it is very highly unlikely (like, it won't happen if you don't ask, don't tell) they will charge you the fare difference.

I have a connecting flight with 30 minutes to spare, will I make it
I have a connecting flight with 30 minutes to spare, will I make it?
I'm flying from phila to vegas, but I have a connection at Nashville TN, my flight is scheduled to land in Nashville at 5:00pm and then the next flight takes off at 5:30pm. Will I make the connection? Southwest airways setup both flights

At least you'll know what alternatives you have if you don't make it.

well i went to school in nashville, i took the bus (1st and last time) now it was cheaper, but the ride was 12 hours of stop and go, off and on. there are always cheap flights with southwest, the lowest i have paid is $85 roundtrip. but the max i have paid is about $150. amtrak doesn't leave from nashville, but i think they leave from memphis if you can drive there. If you drive you can get there in 6 hours minimum, rent a car $25 bucks a day depending on the days you go, and you can drop off the car in chicago. hope my twenty cents helps

Megabus is cheap BUT... now just think... If you can travel far on a bus for $1... imagine what kinds of "characters" would be on that bus! NOT SAFE! Try southwest... they fly nonstop from Chicago Midway to Nashville and are USUALLY cheap. You can also try United or American from Chicago Ohare to Nashville.. Im not sure about Amtrak but you could try them as well.

well i went to school in nashville, i took the bus (1st and last time) now it was cheaper, but the ride was 12 hours of stop and go, off and on. there are always cheap flights with southwest, the lowest i have paid is $85 roundtrip. but the max i have paid is about $150. amtrak doesn't leave from nashville, but i think they leave from memphis if you can drive there. If you drive you can get there in 6 hours minimum, rent a car $25 bucks a day depending on the days you go, and you can drop off the car in chicago. hope my twenty cents helps

Megabus is cheap BUT... now just think... If you can travel far on a bus for $1... imagine what kinds of "characters" would be on that bus! NOT SAFE! Try southwest... they fly nonstop from Chicago Midway to Nashville and are USUALLY cheap. You can also try United or American from Chicago Ohare to Nashville.. Im not sure about Amtrak but you could try them as well.

Canada does not have a border with Nashville, so if someone tries to sell you a ticket there, buyer beware! ;-) But you could buy a ticket from Nashville, TN to Calgary, AB which is only an hour away from the Rocky Mountains. The lowest prices I found were about $500 for a one-stop flight, and as low as $275 if you get a multi-stop flight. There were no non-stop flights, and this is for a one-way ticket as you did not say if you were returning to Nashville after your "virtual" trip. By the way, I'm not sure why you would not be "allowed" to use a site like Expedia instead of having to ask on a place like Yahoo! Answers. All I did as the "world's smart public" was look it up on Expedia instead of you. Seems like your teacher is simply causing you NOT to think for yourself but try to get people to do the work for you...I would think it would be better for you to actually use ALL avenues available to you. It really depends which airlines that you choose. But with most airlines that serve the USA, you would have to go from Mumbai - London first, as London really is the hub for most of the airlines. From London, you'd have to go to their main hub, some being Dallas, TX., New York, NY., Denver, CO., or Atlanta, GA. Then from there, they'll have a direct flight to Nashville. A direct flight is different than a non-stop flight. Nashville, TN would not have a direct or non-stop flight from Lagos. A direct flight stops somewhere else, but carries the same flight number. Can someone tell me why this Southwest flight from Nashville to Phoenix is going to take so long?
i'm originally flying from detroit, and i have a layover in nashville. from detroit to nashville it's only a half hour, but i dont understand why from nashville to phoenix it's 4 hours and 45 minutes? from detroit to phoenix it's only about 4 hours...and detroit seems way farther than nashville from phoenix. can someone please help me understand why it's going to take almost an hour longer when it seems like it's just a straight shot going west? i'm not trying to sound stupid :/ i'm just curious lol. it's just that on a map, detroit seems farther than nashville.

As for the flight taking longer from Nashville, maybe the airline budgeted more time because Nashville can get busy. Airlines will pad the schedule sometimes if they are flying into and out of a congested airport. But I agree that it appears Nashville is closer to Phoenix than Detroit. I would expect a flight from Detroit to Phoenix to be at least 5 hours.

Why are flights from San Diego/LAX to Nashville so expensive?
I was looking at flights from SD/LA to Nashville and I'm getting results of over $600 round trip! Southwest has flights of $400 one way!! I can fly to Europe for less than I can fly domestically within the US. Is there simply little demand for SD/LA to Nashville flights?

Summer travel usually has higher ticket prices because lots of people tend to travel since school is out. A list of all flights from Nashville to Vegas over time period?
I'm wanting to travel from Nashville to Vegas sometime in May or June on Southwest. I can leave on a Friday or Saturday. Looking at their schedules though, they vary significantly from week to week. I want a non-stop flight that gets me there before 11am. Rather than searching day by day on their website, is there anything that will list out all Nash to Vegas flights over a specific time frame so I know which Fri and Sat's I can go ahead an eliminate?

When you put in your dates and everything and the fare page comes up, there are tabs with the dates on them heading the column of fares; just to the right of those date tabs is a link that says 'Try Our Low Fare Calendar.' That will give you the current 'Wanna Get Away' fares (the lowest fares Southwest offers) for the entire month you're searching in. For example, I just clicked the one for the month of May and the lowest departure fare is currently the same for every day in May: $164.00. You probably shouldn't bother just trying to eliminate the days with the highest airfare anyway because airfare changes all the time. You might check it now and see one price, then check it again and see a much higher or lower price. You need to be solid on your dates first and buy your plane tickets (you'll usually get the best prices if you buy them at least 4-6 weeks in advance).

For that one, try expeida.com, or aa.com (American). I'm not sure what your definition of cheap is, but heading to Rome is going to cost you a pretty penny! My advice if you want cheap flights, then work for an airline. I went to Moscow, Russia last summer from New Orleans. My total roundtrip was only $300 and that was just Intl. taxes that everyone pays

I need a flight from Nashville TN to Boston (Logan airport). I need it to take off after 10 p.m. on Tues Feb. 9 or arrive in Boston no later than 10 a.m. on Wed Feb. 10. I can't find any flights. Can someone please help me? It's a very urgent matter.

I have even tried lesser known sites and I cant find anything at all. Maybe you can try calling some airlines and see if there is anyway they can put you on a a flight or let you know if there will be any cancellation between now and Tuesday so you can take someone elses spot.

Well, I can't find any commercial Flights, but I can get you a one-way charter flight leaving at 10:15pm, getting in at 1:30am for $9,751.44 Sorry, i would assume that is a little bit too expensive, but if you are determined to fly, it is probably your best option.

However, there are no direct flights from BNA to Rome. You'll either connect in New York, New Jersey, or Atlanta depending on which carrier you take. Now you need to factor that flight time to the connecting city. However, the time from either one of these cities is still in the 9 hour range. You mind as well get some good books, MP3's, and a good neck pillow for this long flight!
